About the Job
The Finance Officer oversees all agency accounting and financial operations, ensures compliance with regulatory standards, and supports executive decision-making through accurate financial planning, reporting, and analysis.

Examples of Duties:
  • Develop financial plans, forecasts, and budgets.
  • Administer all accounting functions and financial reporting.
  • Prepare tax filings and required regulatory reports.
  • Compile and analyze financial data; conduct analytical studies to support organizational planning.
  • Ensure financial practices comply with GAAP and other applicable standards.
  • Monitor capital expenditures, cash flow, and investments.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the Board, professional organizations, and community groups.
  • Coordinate with senior leadership to integrate financial considerations into operational strategies.
  • Collaborate with auditors on annual financial reporting and audit processes.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial information and prevent fraud.
  • Implement process improvements and technological solutions to enhance efficiency.
  • Manage, mentor, and evaluate staff in the finance department.
  • Coordinate financial procedures with other departments to ensure consistent workflow.
  • Respond to audit and monitoring inquiries in collaboration with internal staff, external auditors, and state agencies.
  • Conduct internal monitoring to ensure compliance with all agency, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain all personnel records, including payroll, wage and leave records, and other required documentation; complete all state and federal reporting in a timely manner

Training and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field is required. An MBA or CPA is preferred. Five years of accounting experience—preferably in fund accounting— is recommended. Candidates must pass a credit check, meet bonding requirements, and hold a valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience with accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting standards.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical abilities, communication skills, motivation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and making data-driven recommendations.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems such as AccuFund, GMS, QuickBooks, and SAGE. • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and related software.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and external partners.
